Regardless of the base amount of grind, that grind is only going to get multiplied for new players every time a new hero comes out.

People with full time jobs are probably going to barely unlock them in time assuming they even make it, and if you simply don't play regularly for whatever reason you might just miss out entirely. And the amount of time it takes to unlock the hero is going to depend on how long each person can play. If it took 1 day to unlock the hero it's still a problem.
